Challenges for 2015

This month I have decided to follow a yoga challenge on instagram. I follow quite a few yogi’s on there and after watching many monthly challenges pass by I’ve decided it’s time to become a part of it. This month is #letsgetflexyin2015 so it’s all about postures and poses that open your hips, stretch your hamstrings and increasing those backbends, all things I want to work on. The challenge is as follows, everyday you post a photo of yourself in that days pose, or any variation or progression to that posture. It’s a fantastic way to get motivated every day to get on your mat and do something! I love where my yoga practice is taking me and I want to push myself more and more, it’s in my nature, so this is a fantastic way of doing that.

I fell a bit behind at the beginning of this challenge, letting life get in the way, so I posted my first three pictures today to get me up to date. It’s incredible how much love I got from other people involved in this challenge. You have to put the hashtag in each of your posts so everyone on the challenge can see the others doing it. The amount of likes I got was overwhelming! I don’t have a very large follower base on instagram so I’m used to a few likes here and there, so seeing the notifications popping up on my phone for hours was incredible! It’s amazing to see all these people around the world joining in with this challenge, from newbies to experienced yogi’s. I’m looking forward to following peoples progress throughout the month! You can join in and/or see how I’m getting on through my instagram account. It’s hosted by @kinoyoga and @beachyogagirl with chances to win prizes from their sponsor aloyoga.

In March I’m setting myself a rather difficult task! I’m going to do The British Heart Foundations DECHOX! The concept is simple, give up all things chocolate for a month! That means no chocolate cake, ice cream, sweets and of course dairy milk! I’m a serious chocoholic so this is going to be a tough one but I’m determined to get through it and it’s all for a good cause! Please join me on this one as I’m going to need some support to get through it! Apologies in advance for any grumpy chocolate withdrawals! Please help me out by sponsoring me through my JustGiving page, I am hoping to raise £75, which I know is not a lot but I don’t know how many people will sponsor me and I haven’t given myself a huge amount of time! But as always, every little helps! Here’s the address for my JustGiving page www.justgiving.com/dechox2015-hannahbimpson

My final planned challenge is to do a local 5k colour run in April (I think!) This shouldn’t be too much of a challenge as I’ve regularly run this distance before however I’ve been suffering with a tendon injury in my foot for the past 18 months. That means I’ve had to bring my cardio exercise way down whilst waiting for a diagnosis and treatment! The good news is my treatment is starting soon after a few delays and I should be able to get back to running regularly again! Once I’ve got back into the swing of things and given this a go I might even see myself signing up for a 10k in no time! Stranger things have happened!

I’m feeling so positive about things at the moment so I feel it’s a good time to put that positivity to some good and help others. It’s a small step in the right direction and I hope that this is that start of a fantastic journey of fundraising and charity work. I’m incredibly fortunate in so many aspects of life and I want to give what little I can to help others who are less so. If you’re interested in joining me on any of my challenges then please do or simply support me in any way that you can. Love and kindness will certainly be needed and if you can spare a pound or two then please donate. Let’s spread the love and pass on the positive energy!
